Description

Copper Cliff Meets Lightspeed.

We compahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUGyUb0koYQ&feature=emb_logored a premium 5 ft 4K HDMI copper cable (right) with a 5 ft. FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI v2.0 fiber optic cable (left) using a static PS4 title page.  Fiber optic delivers better color depth, brightness, and contrast, a more faithful copy of the original signal. You can see in the pic below that the screen on the left has better color depth and uniformity whereas the image on the right is washed out and “attenuated”. This is the result of data loss, even though the picture is there, its not accurate.

FIBBR’s Ultra Pro HDMI Fiber Optic cables are made with the highest-quality glass fiber, available exclusively from YOFC, the world’s largest fiber producer.  All FIBBR cables feature proprietary BendRobust™ technology, an industry first that allows the fiber to be bent 180-degrees, to guarantee flexibility and durability in extreme conditions with uninterrupted transmission of signals.

FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI Fiber Optic cables feature PET braided jackets and are slim and flexible, yet strong and extremely lightweight—60% lighter than traditional cabling. These key advantages are critical in protecting valuable connected hardware devices from potential harm caused by heavy cables putting undue stress on delicate connectors.

HDMI over fiber transmits audio and video data via light-waves, meaning they are one-directional. Copper strands are used for +5v power, EDID detection, and HDCP authentication, making the cable a “hybrid”.  FIBBR’s Ultra Pro HDMI Fiber Optic cables ensure trouble-free installation with clearly labeled Source and Display ends. A Smart LED indicator on the Source connector confirms proper connection and operation status, while a Flash LED on the Display connector provides lighting—always handy in dark spaces.  HDMI Fiber Optic Cables by FIBBR offer reliable high bandwidth, with extremely low signal attenuation, and high resistance to external electromagnetic interference.

How it Works

The opto-electronic converters inside the cable heads convert incoming electrical signal into optical on one end, and back into electrical on the other end. The Ultra Pro is a hybrid composed of fiber and copper cables. The copper cables are used for non-video information such as EDID, HDCP authentication, hot plug detection, grounding, and +5v power. The fiber strands carry all the video and audio content.

Better than copper

According to HDMI.org “The longest HDMI cable runs seen to date have been achieved using fiber-optic cable, which is far less susceptible to attenuation and interference than copper. Electrically it is similar to an active cable or Cat 5/6 solution, the principal difference being the higher-quality optical cabling between the transmit and receive connectors. HDMI over fiber is a highly robust solution, effective in cable runs up to 100 meters or more.”

Easier than any HDMI extender

Since the optical converters are housed inside the heads of the cable, there is no need for any external repeaters. This also means that there is no need for extra power adapters or patch cables.

The Ultra Pro eliminates possible points of failure. In a typical HDMI extender setup you have four HDMI connections (source to sender and receiver to display) plus two RJ45 connections, and two power connections from the baluns to the wall.

That’s eight possible things that can come unplugged, plugged in the wrong way, worn out over time or just need to be stuffed somewhere out of sight. With the Ultra Pro you only have one cable connected directly and can be easily verified end to end. Troubleshooting is incredibly easy compared to any other setup.

TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANTAGES

YOFC is the largest active optical cable provider in the world, and it’s subsidiary brand FIBBR is it’s first active optical cable brand in the consumer electronics category.

Over 50% of the staff are in the R&D department, over 80% of which have master’s or higher degrees, it gathers many excellent designers in electronics, optics, chip designing, hardware system, software, techniques, etc.

The FIBBR High-Bandwidth Fiber Optical Cable has the lowest bend radius, lowest attenuation, is thin, light, environmental-friendly, and flame-retardant.

All its internal and external protective materials are environmental-friendly, halogen-free and RoHS/REACH compliant. while in burning, the materials generate almost zero corrosion, extremely low rate of toxicity, very little smoke and is not harmful to human body. Besides, it has remarkable performance in flame retarding, therefore satisfying the requirements (Plenum) of flame resistance in family housing wiring. Each FīBBR cable has to pass a test of a million times of dragging and dropping, and it can pass 500N of flattening pressure test.

  1. Davis Washington, Audiophile Consumer, June 2020

Amazing cables I use them for my xbox one x and pioneer UDP-LX500. Davis Washington, Audiophile Consumer, June 2020

  2. Mark Vignola, Reference Home Theater, Aug 2019

“We’ve now put the FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI v2.0 Fiber Optic cable through seven months of nearly daily use and are very pleased with its performance. In use, the best I can say about the FIBBR Ultra Pro is that it passes AppleTV’s “HDMI Test”, and will flag for the AppleTV’s highest picture quality setting of 4K Dolby Vision without issue. The FIBBR flawlessly passes Dolby Vision 4K content from both our AppleTV and Panasonic UB9000.

Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased with the Ultra Pro. It produces a robust and reliable HDMI connection with every signal that we’ve been able to throw at it and does so without the complications of extra equipment needed in other long-run HDMI options like HDBaseT. Overall highly recommended.” Mark Vignola, Reference Home Theater, Aug 2019

  3. Alan Tramel, Consumer Nov 2018

Perhaps there are other more affordable options that address these same long-distance issues, but having wasted money on several alternatives, only to be disappointed, I finally replaced every HDMI interconnect and projector run with nothing but the FIBBR Ultra Pro line.

From initial power up of the systems, everything worked immediately. The upscaling issues vanished, and the signal chain shows BT2020/12 bit.

For all the non-believers. Fantastic cable! I’m still testing out-of-wall before doing the final install, but my impressions are that, while an investment, these are very high quality cables that will meet the most demanding 4K signal material, and do so reliably, even for long-distance pulls.

Yes the tech is constantly evolving, but my current 4K UHD, Atmos/DTS-X is likely to keep the “upgrade bug” at bay for some time to come.

Again, highly recommend. Turns out HDMI cable design/quality are in fact relevant, at least in demanding configurations where the expectation is to leverage modern resolutions, dynamic range, enhanced color space, and high frame rates over the distances one might encounter in a dedicated home theater space. Aaron Tramel, November 30, 2018

  4. Tom Norton, Video Editor Sound & Vision Mag Sept 2018

I currently use a 50 foot FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI v2.0 Fiber Optic Cable to drive my projector and it has operated flawlessly. Tom Norton, Video Editor Sound & Vision Sept 2018

  5. Robert T., Consumer June 2018

“Very satisfied. Very responsive service. Product is as expected. Appears well made. Had to fish through wall with large header, but cable was very flexible, making the install very easy. Excellent performance once installed.” Robert T., Consumer, June 2018

  6. Saul A, Consumer Sept 2017

“I bought 5m, 20m, both of them work !! tried each from a GTX1080 to 4K monitor, and have no trouble with following settings:
4096×2160,60Hz,HDR on, RGB 4:4:4, 4:2:2, 4:2:0. Gaming at 4096 x 2160@60FPS was no issue, very very very pleased. Also the status light is a excellent function , and there is no HDMI cable to ever have it . And it’s very very light weight , 20m less than 0.5kg. Also it’s very flexible. A very very excellent product , I like it”! Saul, Consumer Sept 2017

  7. Cesar Perez, Consumer Nov 2017

“Highly Recommended! This is THE only (as of now) solution for the long distance problems. Meaning, this cable will very easily carry all the necessary bandwidth of 4K full HDR (and Dolby Vision) from your source to the TV without any issues. I’ve tried so many cables as my set up required a cable longer than 35 feet, yet no other cable solved the issue. The closest I got, before this FIBBR cable, was another Fiber Optic solution, which worked for the most part, but it struggles here and there. Not this cable, this cable works flawlessly, and this cable is longer than the previous one I mentioned. This is the cable you need, don’t waste your money on other cables (as of this writing), there might be other solutions in the future, but for now, this is it! There is a reason why this cable got a CEDIA 2017 award from several publications. To be honest, that is the only reason I decided to give this cable a chance. And I’m glad I did. I never take the time to write reviews, but I’m making the exception here because I hope to help other Home Theater geeks like myself that have struggled (for a long time) to find a solution for our long distance set-up problems.” Cesar Perez, Consumer Nov 2017

  8. Chip Rob, Consumer Nov 2017

“Great solution for long HDMI installs. We have a TV in our first floor family room that we have attached to a DirecTV box in the basement. We previously connected them via a balun system, which worked fine most of the time, but would regularly get a pink screen or display an error message requiring a reboot of the box or balun. First tried to run Celerity fiber optic cables, but they frayed during the install, which required some pulling. Recently ran two of the Fibbr 50 foot cables, which are much, much more sturdy and rugged. Both cables have worked flawlessly thus far. Expensive, but very pleased to no longer get pink screens or have to make the trek downstairs to trigger a reboot.” Chip Rob, Consumer Nov 2017

  9. John Arango, Consumer March 2018

“Has worked flawlessly since installed about a month ago. So I ordered a second cable (I connect the source directly to my projector). A strong feature-each end of cable contains a light that shows whether the connection is correct and whether it is active”. John Arango, Consumer March 2018

  10. Jeffery A. Consumer, April 2018

“Looking for full 4K at long distances?? This cable really works!! don’t normally write reviews….but this time I was compelled to do so as this product solved my problems. I’ve been trying for the longest time to get full 4K resolution @ 60Hz with HDR and the highest chroma sampling to my new 75″ Sony TV, which is located about 35′ away from my home automation rack and related equipment. The best I’ve been able to do was 4K @ 60Hz without HDR and chroma sampling at 4:2:0. I’ve tried various cables and signal boosters with NO LUCK. This cable solved my problems! I’m now displaying full 4K @ 60Hz at 4:4:4 chroma at 12bit!! I can finally take full advantage of my new 75″ TV in all its glory!! And it looks awesome!! Thank you for this cable! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!” Jeffery A. Consumer, April 2018

  11. Scott Sauer on FB, Queensland, Australia May 2018

“The key is bandwidth handling and sustained bandwidth over time and distance. The FIBBR HDMI v2.0 Fiber Optic Cable does it no problem. Best “out of the box” product I’ve used in a long time.” Scott Sauer on FB, Queensland, Australia May 2018

  12. Howard Menkis ,,, founder of Audio Video Maniacs on Facebook .😁👍

Yes! Thank you Bob, It was great to win the cables, I hooked up the FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI v2.0 Fiber Optic cables to my Telus fiber optic cable box and my OLED E6 65” display, the signal got even better, the picture is even better than it was before with copper cables. I also use it for my Oppo 203 4k machine and it works great, all and all I’m very happy to use them, it makes my Telus fiber optic cablebox picture even better watching my TV. As in Canada our 4k infrastructure is ahead of the States, these are a good addition to my systems!!!!👍👍👍 thank you! Howard Menkis ,,, founder of Audio Video Maniacs on Facebook .😁👍

  13. Don Krasen, Krystal Clear Audio Video, Dallas April 2018

“We have compared your FIBBR cable to more expensive fiber optic (plenum-rated) and copper cables. The FIBBR cable was vastly superior to the most expensive copper HDMI cables. No surprise there. But compared with the Chromis fiber cable (plenum-rated), your HDMI cable performed better with deeper, more vibrant colors. This truly surprised us as two fiber optic cables with their advanced technology could be that different. Add to this another advantage where the FIBBR HDMI cable is less expensive. As a founding member of ISF, I can attest that these cables are something special, especially in their color reproduction capability.” Don Krasen, Krystal Clear Audio Video, Dallas April 2018

  14. Paul Cadena, Exec Director Encore-US.com, Las Vegas April 2018

    Hi Bob!!
We just installed the 25m FIBBR Ultra Pro HDMI fiber cable and it worked beautifully!!! I just ordered the 2nd one that we need. We have a 4K display and a UHD display that was longer than 25 feet and this fiber solution resolved both connectivity issues. I will certainly share your website with other colleagues!! Paul Cadena, Encore-us.com, Las Vegas April 2018

  15. Coury James Hodges, AV Enthusiast, March 2018

“My friend!!!!! 6 minutes into the movie Deep Water Horizon, and I’m having trouble breathing!!!! The picture is F#&KING AMAZING!!!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!” Coury James Hodges, AV Consumer, March 2018

  16. John Dendy, AV Enthusiast Feb 2018

“The revealing content changes the meaning of what I have seen anywhere before; the differences are that dramatic and unprecedented in my experience…. I am unaware that I was ever that close to the original content and I’ve never felt that way before, so hat’s off to FIBBR and especially to Bob for bringing it to the North American market for consumers….Purchasing three FIBBR lengths, including one a whopping (for my purposes) 30 feet or so, resulted in best-in-length performance compared to the conventional copper HDMI cables of similar lengths in my system previously….. some of the very best the basic signal has to offer in recent days than I would ever have known to expect as a layman / enthusiast”. John Dendy, AV Enthusiast, Feb 2018

  17. Mark Wexler, Concord Records, Jan 2018

“I wanted to let you know that I put in the FIBBR Ultra Pro Optic HDMI throughout my A/V system and all I can say is “Wow”! I wasnt really expecting for these cable to make much of a difference but, I was wrong. I noticed an immediate impact in the color gamut and felt like any residual video noise was totally gone. There is a richness to the picture that was missing before and Im really glad I took your advice as it really does make a difference. Thanks for the turn on! Mark Wexler, Concord Records, Jan 2018

  18. Todd Anderson, AV Nirvana Jan 2018

“In terms of playback, the cable worked perfectly, successfully passing a 4K UHD HDR signal (Planet Earth II, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) from an OPPO UDP-205 Ultra HD Blu-ray player directly to a JVC RS520 projector (and, alternatively through a Marantz RS7012 AVR). The projector’s internal menu system confirmed it was receiving a 4K (3840p) signal with 12-Bit color. To the eye, the picture was exquisite, devoid of any visible issues; audio was pristine. Alternatively, the cable also successfully passed a 4K UHD Dolby Vision signal (Fate of the Furious, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) from an OPPO UDP-203 to an LG OLED B6 4K television. Again, picture perfect.” Todd Anderson, AV Nirvana Jan 2018

  19. Steeves, Montreal Jan 2018

“The picture is more realistic. This is the only thing that comes in mind. The flow of the image is more natural. The Colors are so real! And the sound, everything is clearer, I can follow the voices way better than before! The dynamics are awsome! They’re faster!
I’m going to say it again, I AM so surprise! The quality of this FīBBR HDMI cable is unbelievable! ” Steeves, Montreal Jan 2018

  20. Steeves, Montreal Jan 2018

“I never expected that this HDMI cable would be better than my 1 meter $350.00 Wireworld cable! A BiG surprise! I did a listening session before the change only with music. After I swap the cable, everything was faster! The tone is rounder, the Soundstage is different but as wide as my Wireworld. What I mean is that the placement of instruments and vocals is different, more real I suppose. You were right there’s no graininess. Its ultra smooth. First impression is : I love it! The bass us faster, more rhythmic, clearer and like You said, more precise! I AM very surprised! I mean VERY surprised! So happy for my choice!” Steeves, Montreal, Canada Jan 2018

  21. Jim McGall, Sales Director, Wolf Cinema Jan 2018

“Great cables, reliable, reasonably priced!” Jim McGall, Wolf Cinema Jan 2018 (Wolf used FIBBR HDMI Fiber Optic Cables to run their demo at CES)

  22. Mark Henninger, AVSForum Dec 2017

“When I replaced a 40-foot copper HDMI cable that struggled with 4K HDR with a FIBBR optical HDMI cable, everything worked perfectly. Now I can game in 60p 4K HDR with no issues.” Mark Henninger, AVSForum Dec 2017

  23. DECEMBER 21, 2017 BY LAWRENCE D. DEVOE, MD

“While the 4K Ultra HD images were decent enough with my “plain vanilla” copper HDMI cables, the improvement in detail recovery, color palette, contrast, and depth of image was noticeable during the playback of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs with HDR10 and streaming 4K sources with HDR10 and Dolby Vision. ” DECEMBER 21, 2017 BY LAWRENCE D. DEVOE, MD

  24. Robert Archer, CEPro August 2017

“Watching an HBO broadcast of The Dark Knight was eye opening. It was surprising to see the amount of color detail, resolution and contrast the cable seemed to capture or maintain. It beckons the question, how much image quality would be lost with traditional copper HDMI cables? Robert Archer, CEPro August 2017

  25. Stuart Yaoming, Aug 2017

“With VIA’s powerful electro-optic / opto-electronic conversion technology, YOFC’s specialty optical fiber blessing, Fibbr’s Ultra Pro series optical HDMI cable has a very low delay, almost zero attenuation, at the same time has a light, soft body. Easy to install and easy to use and easy to resist all kinds of electromagnetic interference, etc., is definitely the solution to solve 4K, HDR, long-distance transmission of choice” Stuart Yaoming, Aug 2017

  26. Scott Wilkinson, AVSForums, Sept 2017

“The Fibbr Ultra Pro fiber-optic HDMI cable can reliably convey 4K/UHD HDR signals up to 200 meters…. if your 4K/UHD HDR source and display are separated by more than a couple of meters, most copper cables are iffy at best. The Fibbr Ultra Pro is an elegant solution to a vexing problem in the brave new video world.” Scott Wilkinson, AVSForums, Sept 2017

  27. Joel Silver, Imaging Science Foundation, Aug 2017

“The true cost of this next wave of video media innovation is bandwidth. FiBBR Tech is visually superior to anything we’ve had previously, with color-rich images and stunning clarity”. Joel Silver, Imaging Science Foundation, Aug 2017
